Major renovations at Holly Creek Life Plan Community are moving forward thanks to corporate vision and planning. We are in the middle of key renovations as part of the 50-year anniversary of our parent company Christian Living Communities. As a community, we have invested one million dollars into updating courtyards, grounds and the front entryway. The goal? Refreshed indoor and outdoor spaces that fit the contemporary lifestyle of our residents and their entertaining needs.
Local contractor Brightview Commercial Landscaping began work on the courtyard this past summer, with plans for completion later next spring, once final permits and materials come in. Jean Neuman, who worked for 35 years as a realtor, was part of the resident committee formed two years ago to provide input on courtyard designs.
“There was a putting green that had seen better days and we all realized it was in need of replacing,” Neuman shared. “Replacing that area is one of the things that I thought would help sell Holly Creek, because the community is absolutely an incredible place to live. And the people who live here are absolutely incredible. We needed to bring it up-to-date.”
The putting green and pergolas were removed and scheduled for replacement with an abundance of garden greenery, flowers, pathways, two beautiful fountains and two new gazebos similar to one in the front courtyard. Residents from each floor of our community, and especially those directly on the courtyard, helped select the new materials and design. Neuman and her husband are excited to use the new space for “BBQs out there with our families and also just to get together with our Holly Creek neighbors.”
Resident Karen Possehl certainly agrees. “The new courtyard is going to be wonderful, especially if you live on it,” she shared. All the apartments around the inner courtyard open onto the space with balconies, giving these residents an opportunity to enjoy the natural environment and easily connect with others below. The new garden area will also be easy access for anyone on the first floor. “We don’t live on it but go out there often—take a lemonade and chat with friends for an hour or so, sitting in the shade.”
Possehl sits on the resident committee providing input on our community’s entryway renovation, which began in September and is scheduled for completion around Thanksgiving. The hope is that the refresh of the entryway, bistro, bar and library—together with the updated courtyard and exterior landscaping additions—will provide aesthetically beautiful and functional gathering spaces for our residents, their family and friends and team members who value socializing in style.
“We’re really glad we’re here,” Possehl concluded, sharing that she is glad to have been able to actively participate in Holly Creek’s future for the past two and a half years since she moved in with her husband. “We’re certainly in the right place. The people here are incredible.”
